A Kamur message states that the f aiiure of the brakes during the descent of » steep bank near a station caused the derailment of a passenger train. Four carriages were telescoped amid scenesj of horror. Bescue was very difficult It is believed that a dozen persons were killed, and seventy-five injured. The carriages were crowded, many peo» pie standing-. The train was travel}ing at a speed of sixty miles an hour when the derailment turned the enginet completely round/ crumbling three carriages. Tlie others remained upright. I The rescuers, aided by a fire brigade and special cranes from Brussels, wrestled for three hours, cutting through' metal plates. The dead were terrible 1 mutilated.
