TRAVELLING SCHOLARSHIPS

Miss Moira Dennehy, whose photograph appears in this issue, -has been awarded the "Sarah Anne Rhodes" Travelling Scholarship for 1929. Miss Dennehy has had a distinguished career at Victoria University College. Last year she was awarded the New Zealand University Senior Scholarship in Chemistry, open to candidates who- have passed the examination for the degree of Bachelor of Science. In the same year Miss Dennehy won the "Sir George Grey" Scholarship, open to students taking the Bachelor of Science course. This scholarship is awarded by the Professorial Board of the college on the basis of the college examinations in conjunction with the candidates' practical work throughout their course. Previous to this she was awarded the "Sir Robert Stout" Scholarship for the best student who has completed a pass degree in the previous academic year. Miss Dennehy received her early education at Marsden School, of which she was dux in 1925. It is understood that she intends to proceed to England next year for the purpose of carrying on advanced work in science at one of the universities.

The scholarship is tenable for two years and has an annual value of £250.
