HAWERA TRACK NOTES

HAWERA, This Day. Bar a strong wind, conditions were good at the racecourse yesterday morning, and some interesting work was got through. Both plough gallop and the outside of the course proper were used for fast work, and were in excellent order. The following work was performed on the plough track: —
SilvermJue, by. himself, galloped seven furlongs, taking 52sec for the first halfmile, and ran out his seven in Imin 33sec.
Varsity went a round quietly, and finished up his last half-mile in 53sec. C. Jackson has had no trpuble with Varsity since taking him in hand, and may succeed in getting a race out of the gelding now that he is proving more tractable. Orazone finished a shade better than Banbridge over six furlongs run in Imin 21sec, Gowan Lea, the Sheffield three-year-old, accompanying the pair over the first three furlongs.
Havering looks well, and did a couple of rounds of strong pace work.
Joy Spear galloped a mile by himself in Imin 51sec, but would have shaped better with a companion.
Bright Glow was only asked to do easy pace work.
Royal Acre finished iv front of Grand Marnia over six furlongs run in Imin 21 l-ssec.
Latakia and Mount Shannon were companions over sis furlongs run in Imin 21sec, with the former doing the better at the finish.
On the outside of the course proper:—. Ross Ferry and Calareine were associated over five furlongs, the former finishing three lengths in front of Calamine in Imin Bsec.
The two-year-olds Chief Link and Awaken jumped away smartly at the bar-
rier, and ran three furlongs in 39% sec, finishing together.
Clever and Fortaliee jumped off at the half-mile post and ran home in 53sec, with Clever a head in front.
Bon Eve and Goldzone, going fron the barrier, ran three furlongs down thi back in 41 2-ssee.
Richfield and Llanore got away together, running their first two furlongs in 25% sec, finishing up the five furlongs in Imin 5 1-5 sec. It was a good gallop, with nothing much between them at the finish.
J. Fryer's three, Aubridge, Golden Flower, and Just So, rattled off a smart four furlongs in 52sec, with the firstnamed showing a slight advantage at the winning post.
Isa and Valpre took 39 3-ssee' to run their three furlongs, the Surveyor youngster Harry occupying 40sec over a similar
Vivo (Mills) and J. Fryer's Hunter (Cook) schooled smartly over a round of the hurdles.
Paitonu and Animated were restricted to pace work.
