BOOTMAKERS' LOSS

CHRISTCHURCH, 10th December. A fire in the boot store and repair-' ing factory of C. D. Gough and Sons, Colombo street, Sydcnham, early this morning, caused damage estimated over £3000, including the loss of plant. It was an old wooden building. The total insurance was £2500 in the Northern Assurance Company. The brick walls on tho adjoining houses saved them, though the occupants had to evacuate owing to the heat.
