COMMANDS AND FLAG LIST
(From -ma Host's" Representative.) LONDON, 4th October. Captain Dudley B. N. North, C.5.1., C.M.G., C.V.0., who has commanded the battle-cruiser Tiger since May last, will receive a new appointment in the new year. He is to succeed Captain P. L. H. Noble, C.V.0., as Director of the Operations Division of tho Naval Staff. Captain North is an Extra Equerry to the Prince of Wales, whom he accompanied on his various Empire tours. He was First Lieutenant of the battleeruiser New Zealand in the Heliogoland Bight action, and commander of that vessel at the Dogger Bank and the Battle of Jutland. For his services on the latter occasion he was commended.
The new commanding officer of the Tiger will be Captain A. E. F. Bedford, who at present holds the post of Commodore in command of the R.N. Barracks, Devonport. This last appointment will be taken over on Ist January, 1930, by Captain N. F. Laurence, D.5.0., the present chief executive officer of the aircraft carrier Eagle. The following changes in the flag list are notified by the Admiralty: BearAdmiral H. P. Douglas, C.8., C.M.G., placed on the retired list, at his own [request, Ist October; Captain G. A. "Wells, A.D.C., to be Rear-Admiral, Ist October. The promotion of Captain Wells leaves Captain C. T. C. P. Swabey, D.5.0., senior of the officers of his Tank.
