(Received 10th December, 12.50 p.m.) NEW YORK, 9th December. Sterling advanced on the New York market to-day to above 4.88% dollars, at which exports to Great Britain would appear to be profitable. This is the highest level reached since the end of 1927. On 3rd December sterling was quoted at 4.88 3-32nds dollars, then the highest rate for 1929. Par is 4.886 dollars.
