WORSER BAY

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to the conditions of the Worser Bay road and, the conveniences on the beach. Although the road is part of our splendid marine drive, it was quite a common sight during the week-end to see the whole of the traffic held up by some unfortunate motorist who was "bogged" in the middle of the sand drift on the main road. As there was only room for one-way tranie at this point the unfortunate ones had. to be dug out aud pushed through. Most motorists managed to drive through in "low gear," while quite a number drove across the sidewalk.

I venture to say that this short stretch oE road, not more than twenty-five yards long, must cost a small fortune per annum to maintain. Two men, a horse, and a dray are kept going on an average or two days a week during the year carting the rand back on tic beach, aud it seems waijte of public, money that the necessary work to settle the sand drifc is not undertaken immediately. Eegarding the conveniences on the beach, they should certainly be inspected by the Health Department. There is only one ladies' and- ons gentlemen's convenience, and as the beach is patronised by from 2000 people on a fine Sunday to upwards of 5000 on a holiday, these conveniences are inadequate, and the residents of this locality have numerous inquiries from picknickers for the use o£ their conveniences—an intolerable state of affairs. The beach is one of the safest, and one of the most popular, and is certainly the most neglected beach handy to the city.— I am, etc.,

RESIDENT.
