IMPROVING WEATHER
WIND MODERATES
During the week-end Wellington had plenty of sunshine, but the strong north-westerly winds persisted, and made things rather unpleasant. The j weather over the Dominion as a whole was squally and changeable, and intermittent rain fell in western districts. South of Taranaki there were some heavy falls, and Wostport had a thunderstorm last night. In eastern districts, however, the weather was chiefly fair, with only a few scattered showers. Barometric pressure has been low, and tho weather of the westerly type frequently experienced at this time of year. But since last night barometers have started to rise, especially in southern districts, and this is the first definite rise in pressure since last Tuesday. As a consequence winds have backed to the south-west.
Moderate to Btrong westerly to south-westerly winds are forecasted. Western and southern districts may still have scattered showers, as may also parts of the high country, but as a whole the weather is expected to improve, and to be fair to fine, with temperatures somewhere on the cool side.
