DE LUXE THEATRE.

"Broadway," tlie all-talking, singing.' and dancing production, is now in its second week at the De Luxe Theatre. Tlie characterisations of tlie play, as enacted by Glenn Tryon as Roy Lane, and Merna Kennedy' as Billle Moore, the dancing team; Evelyn Brent as Pearl, Thomas Jackson as Dan STCorn, Robert Ellis as Steve Crandall, Paul Porcasl as Nick the night club proprietor, and Otis Harlan as Porky, one .of the gangsters— lor comedy purposes only—are all outstanding. Altogether, "Broadway" is excellent entertainment, absorbing in story, vivid in characterisation, superb in its musical and colour effects. In tlie final scene the Paradise Club and everything in it, including the revue girls and their elaborate costumes, are shown in full technicolour, and shows what can be achieved by the screen in combination with sound and colour photography. Good supports are also screened, and some delightful music is supplied by the orchestra, under Mr. L. D. Austin. "Syncopation," a melodious, tuneful, sprightly, sparkling aim music extravaganza, opens a weeks season in Wellington with next Friday s presentation at»the De Luxe Theatre. Here also is a moving romance. It is the tale of a pair of wedded "hoofers," tlie team of faloane and Darrcl, played by Barbara Bennett and Bobby Watson, who have been playing the small time. Fame and.fortune unexpectedly smile upon them, and with wealth and white lights come those differences that break hearts and burst wedlocks.
