The wrifnr states that "certain American, exports arc expected to be affected by the Australian tariff increases, but from evidence now available it ia indicated that the blow will not be staggering. Australians of means •who have a strong-preference for American cars as opposed to cars of other foreign makes will continue buying them and pay for the privilege."
: The leader concludes for some comment upon Mr. Scullin's proposal to tax synchronised sound films, and it stresses Mr. Bruce's defeat as being partly due to a similar amusement tax.
