WORSER BAY CLUB
Baces were held over the week-end by the Worser Bay Swimming and -Life-' Saving Club.- ; The -first distance;for" ilia;" 1'; S Brodfe Cup (50yds free style) was \tu*f *' first event, and drew an exceptionally--^ large field, 17 entries being received; ?^ The race was divided into two heats,"" ■' the placings being as follows:—First '^' heat: A. ;H. Henderson 1, E. P Ken- V v; nedy 2, T. G. Hull 3. Second heat: Lp'd G. Grinstone 1, J. W. The 100 yds scratch race for the ' championship ladder also drew'a large" 7 field, and, a close finish resulted. The ■ placings were; as follows:' A. Hepburn 1, —. Keith .2, J. W. Newport 3i ';'. The. members are. showing ■'great"' keenness for so early in the season, ancLT it is a pleasure to those who are doinc their best to build the club up to see' such interest taken on the part of,', their fellow-members.
A number of new' members have ioin- ' ed up this season, including "\Vaily3'" Brough, an ex-Canterbury man, who i», now living in Wellington. ". Ho'was' a.' prominent active member of the K'ortf Beach Surf Club, Brighton, and..is a' decided acquisition to, Worser Bay.i The season shows promise of being on*-" of the best on record. - . '■'*■■■
