CRIMINAL CHARACTER

AUCKLAND, This Day. In the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Smith sentenced Leonard James Monk to ono year's hard labour on a charge of forgery. His Honour said that in view of the accused's long list of previous convictions he would have to treat him as a criminal character.
Eleanor Benson Platt and William Platt appeared for sentence on a charge of making a false declaration for their marriage, the girl being under age. The girl was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon, and Platt was given six months' probation.
