VIOLENT DEATHS
SYDNEY'S FATAL WEEK-END
(deceived 9th December, 9 a.m.)' J SYDNEY, This. Day. Eleven people met violent deaths in! the Metropolis during- the vreek-end. Six persons wero drowned, four victims', being children from four to sixteen, years of age. There was a tragic affair at Fairfield, whero a mother and' daughter wero nearly drowned in attempting to save a younger chiia. But! for the prompt pluck and action of n man, there would havo been three vie-; tims instead of one. Most of the,'. fatalities occurred in creeks and! waterholes. Tho hot weather caused' thousands to flock to the beaches, where the lifesavers had a busy time., At Maroubra sixty-four rescues were* effected yesterday.
