STATUS OF CADDIES
The. secretary of the New'"Zealand Golf Association received tliis1 moniinga cable from; the Royal; and-'Ancient' GdlfClub of St: Andrews to the "effect" that "the conditions regarding the.status of amateurs has been altered by raising the age limit up to which a youth may carry clubs for hire without .infringing his amateur statu* Previously this age was 16, and it has ■now beeu raised to ,18. The change comes into force immediately, and means .that a youth can continue to act as a professional caddy, up to .his eighteenth birthday without .'being, debarred from playing as an amateur".
