SPEEDWAY CONTESTS

TO-NIGHT'S MEETING

A bright weather outlook and an improved track point to excellent performances being registered at the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedway to-night, when the events will include the Golden Helmet contest. The racing to determine who is to meet Kilmister in the final challenge race for the Helmet is expected to be of high order, and there are prospects of the record being broken. At the last meeting Julmister was only one second outside the record, and at Christchurch last Saturday Sticpewich easily broke the record there. First division riders will also be seen in a handicap race, and another feature of the meeting will be the first contest of the season for the Silver Gauntlet, at present held by. E.Xaylor. Tho/e taking part include the "Wellington riders who defeated Auckland in an interproviucial match race at Auckland last Saturday, and Eanby, the middleweight grass track champion, will be making his first appearance.
