A radio message from the Mataroa, en route from Southampton, states that she expects to arrive at Wellington at 5 o'clock on Wednesday evening. RANGITIKI'S DEPARTURE. The Ratgitiki is now timed to sail at 5 o'clock this evening for Southampton and London, via Panama. DEFECT IN WELLINGTON-SYDNEY CABLE. Tho repair ship Iris, owned by the Pacific Cable Board, will leave Auckland on Tuesday to make good a defect in the WellingtonSydney cable, which has occurred about 240 miles from here. KOUTUNUI'S NEW ENGINES. The Koutunui, which has been fitted with motor engines in place of steam, underwent her trials at Auckland yesterday, and attained a speed of nine knots. NARBADA LEAVES CALCUTTA. The Narbada left Calcutta on Wednesday for Penang, Singapore, and Samarang, where she ■will complete loading for New Zealand ports. She Is due at Auckland on Ist January.
