Signalising the end of a feud since 1870 when his grandfather seized Rome as tho capital, King Victor of Italy and. his Queen in the forenoon crossed the threshold of the Vatican. They were welcomed by an imposing array of Papal Guards, and escorted to the Throne Room, where both curtsied and kissed tho Papal ring, after which they sat on either side and conversed with tho Pope, who finally imparted an Apostolic blessing to the Royal Family.
