WIND IN PLENTY

To-day's weather chart shows features very characteristic of the season of the year, what is known as westerly vroather prevailing. A series of low pressure waves extends right across the Tasman Sea to beyond the Chatham Islands. These as they cross the Domiuion provide strong northerly to wtsterly winds, which at times reach gale force in and south of Cook Strait, and western districts experience rain. This morning barometric pressure over tho Dominion ranged from 29.30 inches in the far south to 29.94 inches in the far north. Wellington's wind yesterday was again very strong, and the maximum gust, another on^ of 55 miles an hour, was experienced at 7.25 p.m. Further rain has fallen in western districts and also in the Bay of Plenty The coast south of East Cape has expciienccd relatively dry and fair conditions.

To-day's forecast indicates a continuation for the present of the same type ot weather. Strong north to west winds will reach gale force at times in Cook Strait. * Squally, changeable, and showery weather may bo expected, most ram falling in districts with a westerly aspect. In other districts the weather at times may be fair, and temperatures will remain moderate.
