MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police and summons cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M.
Maurice O'Neil, alias Charles Daly, alias James Cole, aged 29, was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment, for his fourth statutory offence of drunkenness.
For using obscene ■ language, John Fitzgerald, alias Thomas Glen, aged 45, was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment. He was convicted and discharged for being drunk.
John De Lacy Crowley, on a charge of having used obscene language, was fined £1.- Senior-Sergeant Ward said that Crowley was addicted to drink. He had rather a lengthy "list of convictions.
Oil a charge of Sunday trading, Caroline Desmond was fined 10s. Senior-Ser-geant Ward said that the defendant sold two ices to a boy, who took them away from her shop.
For casting offensive matter, William Rodger and Anthony Shirley were each, fined £2.
A fine of £1 each and costs was imposed on Louis Sigall and Bryan Edward Wilson on a charge of having smoked in a non-smoking railway carriage. Supplying liquor after hours in a hotel, being a, person other than the licensee, cost Edward Woods, a barman, who did not appear, £5.
Celeste Clare Winstanley, for Sunday trading, was fined £2. Senior-Sergeant Ward said that the defendant had been convicted twice previously for similar offences.
On a charge of having an . unlicensed radio set, Francis Oldridge was fined £1. Sidney Wilson, who went to the Paekakariki Hotel for a drink on the same Sunday as the police visited the premises, was fined £2 and costs.
