MISSING DEBTOR
BUILDER'S BANKRUPTCY
A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of John Albert Bitters, builder, Lower Hutt, was held yesterday at the ofQce of tho Official"Assignee (Mr. S. Tansley). Mr. E. T. E. Tingey and Co., Rough and Co. (represented by Mr. DMA M'llraith), E. W. Mills (Mr. J ' it' Wagg), Brownlee and Co. (Mr. 6. p' Smith), Jackson and ifuge, T. W Warburton, A. H. Nixon (Mr. Osborn) J? bvaus, Granilite, .Ltd. (Mr E D Smith), Petrous Tile Co. (Mr. A Diekson), W. Dobson, J. Stewart Electrical Ltd., J. W. Newall, A. C. Sceats and Lo, P. J. O'Connor (Mr. C. G. Stephenson), and W. Dorm (Mr. Barrett)! The Official Assignee said he understood that the bankrupt couia not be found.
As tho result of inquiries by a legal firm, it was stated that the total assets available would probably be £479 13 S 6d; and it was asserted that if Bitters came back a further £900 might bo available. The position, it was stated, was as follows:—Amount owing to unsecured creditors, £2039 13s 2d; present available assets, £479 13s 6d. It was admitted, however, that the' balances in a number of cases required further investigation. After some discussion Mr. M'Uraith moved: "That the Official Assignee endeavour to have Bitters brought back to New Zealand, and that if there are not sufficient funds in the estate to provide a guarantee, the creditors si<*u a bond pro rata." °
The motion was adopted. The Official Assignee said that in the meantime he would look into the assets.
