NEWTOWN SCHOOL
The monthly meeting of the Newtown School Parents and, Old Scholars' Association was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. W. B. Bradley presiding. It was decided to compliment the headmuster, Mr. Thui-ston, and the staff uu the high standard of the class work ex-hibited-on Parents' Day.
Owing to representation by many parents regarding the danger of street ti-aliic in front of the school, it was decided to ask the City Council to station a. traffic inspector there before and after school hours. to prevent the possibility of accidents to children. -
A motion that the association co-operate with the school committee in any. action taken to secure an.adequate allowance i'ur cleaning and heating the school was carried unanimously. . The necessity was stressed for the immediate erection of a new school to replace the present obsolete buildings.
As the Hutcheson i-oad tip is now filled I arrangements are to be made for rubbish I to lie deposited in the gully between Birdwood and Ghaytor streets. The access way, between Chaytor and i Forbes-street is to be taken over by the ■ council as a public way.
