WELLINGTON SHOW
ASSOCIATION'S REPORT
DKOP IN PROFITS
A drop of over £000 in the profit for last year as compared with the previous year is .revealed in the annual report of the Wellington Show Association, to be submitted' to the annual meeting on 17th December.
"It is acknowledged that the recent show generally reached a higher standard of success than any previous effort," states the report, "individual firms excelling themselves in the design and construction of their stands and the layout of the goods exhibited. Unfortunately the show was held in extremely bad weather, there being only two dry days out of the seventeen. This was naturally reflected in the gate takings. Membership receipts are also considerably down on last year, the difference being represented in the life membership fees paid in 1925. There was a substantial income of £638 for interest last year, which did not recur. On the other hand space rent and lottings show a substantial increase."
The principal items of income were as follow (the figures for last year being in parentheses): Gate, £4050 (£4599); space and sideshows, £4098 (£3731); other sources, £3133 (£3189). Total, £11,882 (£11,519); profit, £6010 (£6621).
Since the last annual meeting the following capital expenditure had been made: Ground in front of building, £175; ground at back of building, £07; top ground, £1720; turnstile houses, fencing, and main entrance, £993.
Work on the lower ground had had to be suspended until the top ground was completed. Work was' still progressing on the top ground, and it was expected that all the filling would be finished and the formation .completed by the end of the present summer. The executive was now considering the question of further capital to complete the ground and make it revenue producing.
