ALEXANDRA DAY
(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 24th October. At a meeting of tho Administrative Committee of "Alexandra Day" Fund, at tho Mansion House yesterday, at which Sir ' Arthur- 'Stanley presided, Miss C. May Beenian, the organiser, reported that the collections on "Alexandra Day" in London on 12th June amounted to £53,700. To this had to bo added collections by steamship companies of £961, and £4423 other income, making a total of £59,054. The expenses amounted to £9214. JLhey comprised:—Cost of roses made py cripples, and sold on "Alexandra ■Day," £7427; salaries, £409; expenses of local secretaries, £246; printing, stationery, advertising, rent, rates, and miscellaneous expenses, £1132. This left a surplus of £49,870, which was — 1741 more than tho corresponding figure last year, to be added to the •tund. Out of the fund £5115 would bo given to those charities in which Princess Victoria, president of the fund, was specially interested, and £44,682 wouia be distributed by the Administrative Committee to various hospitals and charities. The balance of the fund remaining (£5112), which included the leasehold offices and stock of roses on hand, would be carried forward to next year.
Sir A. Stanley (treasurer of St. Thomas's Hospital) said that this year s London collection constituted a record, and reflected great credit on Miss Beeman and her staff
