OBITUARY
MR. W. H. S. MOOKHOUSE
The death occurred this morning, athis residence, Kclburn, of Mr. William Henry Softon Moorhouse, M.8.E., barrister and solicitor, aged G9. The late Mr. Moorhouse was a son of William Sefton Moorhouse, formerly Superintendent of Canterbury and Mayor of Wellington in 187-1, "He was born in Christchurch, and was educated at the Wangauui Collegiate School and Wellington College. Articled to his lather, he studied law, and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 1884. After practising by himself for a time lie joined 'Mr. Ernest Hadiield, the firm being known as iloorhouse and Hadfield. Ho retired from the firm in
lor many years Mr. Kcorhouse took a prominent part in the Volunteer Movement. He joined the old D Battery, ultimately retiring with the rank of lieutenant-colonel. During the Great War Mr. Moorhouse acted as chairman of one of the military appeal boards, and at the conclusion of the was -was appointed a member of the Commission—the other two members being Sir George Elliot and the late Mr. G. Wilson.—to inquire into and make recommendations with respect to .the changing of the military administration to a civil administration. Sirs. W. 11. S. Moorhouso died in 1924. There was no family, but there are three sisters living, namely Mrs Dr. Adams, Silverstream; Mrs! w! Ferguson, Silverstream, and Mrs' Smith, Melbourne. The funeral wili be private.
