NEW BRIDGE OPENED
COST BELOW ESTIMATE

TIMARU, This Day. IJie new ferro-ecracrete bridge over the Pareora Eiver on the main Christ-church-Dunedin highway was officially opened for traffic yesterday in the presence of a large gathering of the public ana representatives of local bodies from Ashburton to Oamaru. The estimated cost of the bridge, which was constructed by the Public Works Department, was £15,000, but it was completed for £11,400.
