ARTCRAFT THEATRE.
Victor M'Laglen, Lois Moran and Nick Stewart have the chief roles in ?he fine drama The Riyer Pirate," which Is at present being shown at the Artcraft Theatre. It Is the story of a youth who Is committed to a reform school, where he is officially taught sailmaking, but learns the workings of the underworld as well. His instructor, a hard-boiled sailor, is paroled, helps the boy escape and they 30ln in piracy on a large scale. hauntIng the drab coves of the waterfront, slipping in and out of huge warehouses and disposing of their stolen material to dishonest dealers; yet always fearing the harbour police, with whom they engage In many thrilling battles of wit and body. The younger boy falls in love with the daughter of their nemesis, a detective, and In the end she regenerates him.
