LONDON'S TRANSPORT
GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS
Onlud Preu Attoel»tloa— By CUrtrit X«l*> tr»Bh Copyright LONDON, 3rd December. In the House of Commons, Mr. H. Morrison (Minister of Transport) announced that the Government had decided to substitute for the Traffic Bill which was rejected on 18th July a far-reaching Bill unifying all the transport undertakings in the London area under a single control. He said that without the elimination of the present wasteful competition there could not be sufficient revenue from the present fares to meet expenses and develop traffic facilities. The present complication of private and municipal interests added to the difficulties of the situation. He proposed to explore, with the interests concerned fair and equitable terms for the consolidation of all the omnibus, tramway and underground railway undertakings under public owner, ship, with a unified commercial management.
