Police cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr..E. Page, S.M.
"I'd ask your Worship to sentence m« to a term on the Island," said Edith Hunt, alias Bownall, alias Bennett, alias Wendall, aged 37, when she was charged with, her fourth statutory offence of drunkenness, and her fourth breach of a prohibition order. The Magistrate acceded to her request, and on the charge of drunkenness the accused was convicted and discharged, while on the other charge she was sent to the Pakatoa Island for two years. "If she behaves herself she will probably, be released before then," rmarked Mr' Page.
One first-offending inebriate was convicted and discharged.
Fighting in Manners street shortly before 6 o'clock last night cost Charles Brad- ! ley, a seaman, aged .21, and Samuel Barclay, a labourer, aged 21, £1 each in default seven days' imprisonment. Seniori Sergeant Ward said that the men were rolling about in the street exchanging blows, and they held up the traffic. Botb. accused were drunk, and each blamed the other with attacking him without provocaition. ...
