NAVY LEAGUE
The annual meeting of the. Wellington branch of the Navy League was held yesterday afternoon, Captain T. H. Chudley presiding.
It was stated in the monthly report which was presented by the secretary, Mr. E. DaiToch, that on. 6th November Captain Chudley, Mr.' J. C. Crawford, members of_the Ladies' Auxiliary, the girls' branch, and ' the ' secretary visited Marsden School to present to the Navy League members the'souvenir photographs of Rear-Admiral E. R. G. R. Evans. The secretary visited the Marlb'orough district in November, and- at a public meeting in the Navy League Hall at Picton presented to the Picton branch their charter, recently received from London. Accompanied by Miss Cliaytor and Miss Allen, he visited a number of schools to establish school branches on behalf of the Picton branch.
Mrs. Fmdlay, president of the Ladies' Auxiliary, and members and the secretary visited • the Sacred Heart Convert,' Island Bay, to present the souvenir photographs to the Navy League members, when 83 pupils were present, and St. Madeleine's Parish School, where- 190 children were addressed with the object of establishing a new branch of the Aavy League: Mr.' Darroch' also stated that 177 essays had been received for the Palmer Prize competition. 'This consti-tuted-a record since the-competition was instituted in J916. . •
It was decided to forward a letter of thanks to Mrs. Firth, who had resigned from the Ladies' Auxiliary after 28 years' service.
