POVERTY BAY WOOL HELD
_The Poverty Bay "Herald" states that of the small quantity of wool at Napier in time for, the first sale, 18th November, a little was held over pending an improvement. It appears as though other growers are now following suit, and although perhaps the quantity may not be large from the Poverty Bay district, the attitude of the growers may have a certain effect on the market if sheepowners in other parts of the Dominion are doing likewise. The amount of Gisborne wool in store in Napier being held over for future sales is not available, but it is known that a number of growers with fleece there do not intend to include it in the December catalogue. Meantime the majority of the Hawkes Bay growers appear to be anxious to meet the market tor advice received in Gisborne indicates that the allotment of 25,000 bales for the Napier sale on 11th December may be nlled. If this is so, little Gisborne wool is likely to be included, for since the last shipments for the November sale left Gisborne, only a little over 2200 bales have been shipped to Napier. The total' Gisborne wool forwarded to the Napier stores during the period stated should not be more than 3000 bales. Even if all this were to be offered in the December sale and several hundred bales of it are not likely to be, the Gisborne quota would be a long way short of the total of last season s Gisborne wool in the second Napier sale. In December last year Gisborne was represented by 4466 bales, more than 1500 ?o a ofiS-n So D °l ti o£ the alloca«°"n. while in 1928 0928 bales were offered in the December auction.
