DEATH OF MR. A. F. LOWE
(By Telegraj ,h.—Press Association.) TAIHAPE, This Day. The adjourr ie d inquest on Alexander Francis Lowe , of Wellington, was concluded, at Tjdhape to-day. Wing-Conu nander Grant-Dalton, in a written statement, said that he was in the sam c sleeping compartment on the express., "j occupied the top berth and about..eleven o'clock Mrf Lowe tt^vn ana S. aicI ' 'l am Slaa t0 see that you are ltt the top berth, as I thought that I had it and I feel too old to e7 imb up to the top.' He seemed quite w ell and began to undress. After taking oS his coat and waistcoat he had sf.me difficulty in unfastening his collar.. He then lay down to read for a fev,r minutes and then I inquired if he -w as reading or was ready for sleep, iie rephed, 'I am ready for sleep; put th' 3 lights out when you like.' I put th.o lights out. About five minutes l.'i'fcer I heard someone speaking, and fcav Mr. Lowe standing by the door 't; ilking to an attendant. He said, '"Will 3.0 and ask my wife to come to me. fjhe is in an adjoining carriage. I am feeling queer. I have had a hemorrhage or something.' He then lay down. Mrs. Lowe arrived in about . three minutes. In my opinion Mr. T Lowe was then dead." 1 Dr. MacDiarmid testified that the de--5 ceased was suffering from degeneration t of the heart alternated with attacks of angina pectoris. j A verdict of death from natural . causes was returned.
