PROGRESS OF CAMPAIGN

LAST NIGHT'S SPEECHES

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Hutt by-election campaign has now entered its second week, and last night the three candidates —Mr. James Kerr (United), Mr. Harold F. Johnston (Reform), and Mr. Walter Nash (Labour) addressed meetings in different parts of the electorate. Mr. Kerr spoke at Day's Bay, Mr. Johnston at Eastbourne, and Mr. Nash at Lower Hutt. Despite the inclement ■Weather, the meetings were well attended, thus attesting the interest of the electors in the byelection. Votes of confidence were accorded the candidates at each meeting.
