The partnership between Worthington and Legge troubled the State bowlers, adding 61/ Then Allom made a stand with WortVington and kept Queensland fielding foy: half an hour. After luncheon O'Connor and Levy went to the wickets, requiring 183 runs to win, in 180 minutes. The start was disastrous, O'Connor going at fiva and Levy at 13. Gough batted vigorously in a solid partnership with Eowe. Both were lucky, being dropped several times. Benson was struck on the face by a ball from Nichols and retired, Duleepsinhji keeping wickete. With 100 up Gough and Eowe hit out, playing bright cricket.
There was an exciting finwh, with 30 minutes to play and 30 runs wanted, the crowd cheering every run. ' There was a great demonstration at G>ough's century, which is the highest score for the State against an England team. The match developed into a .race against time and finished three nunutes before time, the winning run being a no-ball. The- following are the scores:— ENGLAND.
