WADESTOWN SCHOOL.
The Wadestown Home and School Association at its meeting on Thursday decided to give £25 to the School Committee towards the formation of concrete paths at the Main. School on condition th 6 Department subsidised the amount & for £.
Mr. T. Jones presided, and Mr. F. L. Comb, ex-president, N.Z.E.1., and headmaster of the Mount Cook School, addressed the meeting. He referred to the apathy or apparent contentment of the average parent towards primary school work. School committees were becoming impatient because they realised they were not backed up by the community as a whole. By way of increasing the usefulness of the Home and School Association he suggested an extension of membership, and emphasised the importance, even at the expense of diverting money locally, of providing funds for propaganda work through a confederation of home and school associations. He trusted the local association w iuld carefully consider this suggestion, and would ith tisie, work, and money co-operate with other associations in the Wellington district until the effort would become national, resulting in one big national movement in the cause of education.
On the motion of Mrs. H. D. Thomson, Mr. Comb wa3 accorded a heartyvote of thanks for his address. Supper and a social half-hour concluded the meeting.
