THE MONTHLY STATISTICS (From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 2nd December. During November Customs duties collected at Port' Nelson amounted to £5618 16s, against £9459 14s for the corresponding month last year. The excise beer duties amounted to £1003 16s 7d, against £865 in November last year. Births numbered 27 in Nelson during November, deaths 18, and marriages 8. On two occasions only in the last 46 years has the rainfall for November exceeded 6.91 inches, which was the total amount recorded last month. In 1895 7.63 in fell, and in 1916 9.17 in. The Government has granted £200 free money for the metalling of the Mahana district road.

In the Magistrate's Court this morning, Peter Francis OJarrity was fined £2, costs 10s, for being on licensed premises after closing hours.
