MONEY IN MOVIES.
•Accounts of Spencer's Pictures, Ltd.,— ane of the Union Theatres Group, Australia—for the year ended 31st August last indicate the money there is in the cinema business. Paid-up capital was increased during the period from- £177,660 to £297,----714; Although the whole of the new capital was riot fully employed throughout the financial year, the dividend rate of 10 per cent, per annum has been maintained, and the directors state that business continues to be good. The company now holds 27.5,269 £1 shares fully paid in General Kirn Co. of Australasia, Ltd., against 129,114 at £1 each and 66,019 paid to 5s each a year ago. Its investment in debentures of that company remains at £32,900. Dividends received showed an increase from" £9013 to £15,675. .Interest, etc., '.yielded r £5858 against . £5660.' After charging expenses there remained not profit, of £19,612, against £12,762 for 1927----28. Reserve fund stands at £24,372. Capital in 1927 was £120,000; reserve nil.
