KING'S THEATRE.
| "Tlie Follies of 1929," which, it will be I recalled, had a successful run in Wellington some time ago at both De Luxe and Paramount Theatres, will return to Wellington next Friday for a week's engagement at the King's ilieatre. Ihe story concerns a young man whose acquisition of suddeu wealth causes him to ask his sweetheart to give up chorus work and marry him... This she refuses to do, .so he buys the whole show, with all the money he possesses, and dismisses her. The leading lady, however, lias designs on the new owner. Slie also has a temperament. She rctuses In a Bt of petulance to take her call and the show is only saved from disaster oil its opening night by the other girl filling the breach. All the thrill of a big show's premiere performance is in the air, and it comes right out from the screen. Throughout the course of tho picture a whole Broadway entertainment is provided, with all the features of first-rate musical comedy. Tho cast numbers two hundfetf, with 100 chorus girls and 50 ballet dancers," while hundreds of frocks are seen in spectacular scenes, of which some are shown in natural colours. Sue Carol leads the chorus in the dance hit, "The Breakaway " iJox plans ate available at the Bristol.
