STILL NO NEWS
CANADIAN ATHLETES' TOUR
No further word having been received that the two Canadian athletes, Williams and Ball, are definitely coming to New Zealand this season, the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association has enlisted the support of the Canadian Trade Commissioner at Auckland in ascertaining the position. There has been some doubt about Percy Williams getting leave for the tour, though he accepted the invitation to visit New Zealand, and it was expected that news as to the result of his application for leave would have been cabled to the New Zealand Council over three weeks ago. As nothing has since been heard, the council has asked the Canadian Trade Commissioner to cable to his Department to-day to see whether it can assist the New Zealand A.A. Council in a matter which is now causing no little concern, since arrangcjments for the tour of the two Canadian athletes have been completed at this end. The Commissioner has agreed to do what he can to assist the council.
