SHOOTING FOLLOWS FIGHT
PROMOTER AND REFEREE DEAD

CHICAGO, Ist December.
Tuffy Griffiths emerged from the second-rate class into a contender for the highest heavyweight honours when ho defeated Paolino Uzcudan, the Basque, in a savage ten rounds.
Charles Barron, the assistant referee of tho fight, was killed an hoar afterwards, but before he- died he fatally, wounded James Walsh, the fight promoter.
Barron. fell foul of Walsh for awarding the sixth round to Griffiths, axuT after the fight Walsh attacked BarroA. breaking his nose. Barron and a friendsecured a gun and found Walsh with three members of his gang in a restaurant. A revolver auel ensued and both fell.
Griffiths came into the limelight recently by knocking out the German heavyweight Haymann.
