GRAND OPERA HOUSE.

The screen version of Anne Nichblls's "Abie's Irinsh Rose," now at the Grand Opera House, brings out all the humour, all the pathos, and all the romance of the great stage play. Charles Rogers, as Abie Levy, makes a very convincing young lover, and Nancy Carroll is delightful as Rosemary Murphy, his

"Irish Rose." The other characters are -also in excellent hands, Jean Hersholt as Abie's father (Solomon Levy), J. Farrell Mac Donald as Patrick Murphy (Rosie's father), and Mick Cogley as Father Whalen being particularly good. One hears to the life the magnificent voice of Jean Hersholt, the screen's foremost character actor, aud is charmed by Nancy Carroll as she sings "Rosemary" and "Little Irish -Jlosc," while Charles Rogers accompanies her on the piano. The Incidental music is beautifully brought out. The supporting films include an interestinfl P&the Sound and News Reel, a humorous musical cartoon, "Oh, You Great Big Beautiful Doll," sung by Felix the Cat with a mouse obbligato; while, on the stage. Jack Lumsda:ne —"Australia's Radio Rascal," the original

"Whispering Baritone"—is heard in the latest song hits, to his own pianoforte accompaniments, and also tells some very funny yarns. His analysis of "Yes, We Have No Bananas," showing how it is pieced up from "The Hallelujah Chorus," "Oh, My Bonnie," and other well known tunes and sons, is delightful.
