WNeil, t>M., to Frederick Pereival Towler, a labourer, aged 23, iv tha Magistrate's Court to-day, when Towier pleaded guilty to stealing & suit and a pai>- of shoes, of a total value of £1 Ss, the property of benjamm Hobbs, and a!.so to a breach of his prohibition order. _ Chief Detective Lopdell said that Xowlcr had been about twelve mouths in Isew Zealand, and during that time had been five times before the Court. In the present ease, after Rtaying a night at a boarding house, he had left in the mornmg. taking with him a suit and oboes, which belonged to a fellow lodger. He pawned the shoes for 5s and the suit for Ins. The accused had an allowance of £2 a week from his people in the Old Country, but he spent it on drink. For committing the breach of his prohibition order, Towler was committed to Roto Eoa Island for two years, and was eon- ieted and ordered to come up for sentence- if called upon within two years on the other charge.
