THE WILKINS PARTY
LIFE ON DECEPTION ISLAND UniUd Pr«u Association—By Electric Tale. eraph—Copyright. LONDON, 28th November. Sir Hubert Wilkins wirelessed on 27th November: A strong south wind, carrying the chill from the glacier ridge on Graham Island, swept over Deception Island to-day, but has not halted the expedition's work, which proceeds unceasingly from 6 o'clock in the morning till late at night, except on Sunday. Even here what we call the Day of Best does not begin until 8 o'clock. Even so our conditions are comparatively luxurious, csconeed as we now are in heated cabins. The stewards serve good' food in abundance, and we drive to work each morning in a little Austin automobile, wondering all the timo how earlier Polar explorers spent the long months sledging and existing on meagre rations.
