THE PLACE FOR PRESENTS

One of the best of the many activities of the" Wellington Y.W.C.A. is the residence in Brougham street, whore girls whose homes are not in this city may live very cheaply in good company and surroundings—the highest rate paid for board is 26s 3d a week. Once a year a bazaar is teld at the hostel; which is thrown open for inspection, and it would be hard to find more attractive plain and fancy sewv ing than that arranged for sale by the hostel girls and those of the Overseas Club at Boulcott street headquarters. Quaint stocking bags, crisp organdie coat hangers, serviceable work baskets, aprons, Christmas novelties of all kinds, oven cloths, tray cloths, lavendar bags, handkerchiefs, d'oyleys— these aro only a few of the articles for sale to help increase; the association's funds. The; Mayoress (Mrs. Trpup) will open the sale, at 2.30 tomorrow, and besides- the needlework stall, thehostel girls will run a sweet stall,-and Miss Cunningham, Miss Peart, and tho hostel staff, will manage the. afternoon tea, the club girls waiting at the tables. Mrs. B. C. Adams will be in charge of the ice-cream booth, and Mrs. Miitliesou and Mrs. Kersley will lie hi-lnnri the flower stall.. A varied supply of produce is promised for tlie stall--to be' staffed by Mrs. Mitchell,. .Mrs. Page, and Miss Mary M'Lean. It was originally intended, instead of the present sale of work, to hold a garden party, with a display of eurythmies and physical culture in the grounds of "Ariki-toa," i but these plans had to be altered, and the garden party will now be hold in January. A3 it ss, tho " bazaar at Brougham street to-morrow should be the particular happy hunting ground for those in search of suitable Christmas presents. . .
