: LONDON, 27th November. In the House of Commons the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, Mr. W. R. Smith, informed Sir Newton Moore that- the value of British produce and manufactures bought by. ,the Argentine during: the year ended ! 30th beptember amounted to £2 14s 2d per capita, compared .with Australia £8 l's 7d and New Zealand £14 2s Bd. The Argentine had offered to halve the duties on artificial silk from Britain if the latter declared that it did not propose to tax Argentine food products. Such a declaration was expressed in the Government's policy and did not involve any formal agreement. No question of consulting the Dominions in that connection arose
