WORLD'S FASTEST

MORE POWERFUL ENGINES

GREATER LIFTING CAPACITY

United Press Association—By Electric Tele-

craph—CopyriEht.

LONDON, 25th November. Airship EIOO has been officially handed over to the Air Ministry. She is described as the world's fastest airship. Her engines develop 2000 more horse-power than those of ElOl, and her dead weight lifting capacity is 20 tons greater. It is also claimed that the different design has strengthened the metal skeleton. The initial flight will be made towards the week-end, with Major Scott in command.

The 8100 was built by the Airship Guarantee Company, with Commander Burney at the head, at Howden, Yorkshire. She is 709 feet in length, as compared with the KlOl-'s 724, but is 133 ft in diameter to the ElOl's 131 ft. The displacements _of the two craft are: EIOO 156 tons, ElOl 157 tons, but the ElOl's engines, Beardmore Diesel type, weigh 21 tons, compared with the ElOO's Eolls-Eoyce Condors' ten tons, and the EIOO develops 4200 h.p. as compared with the ElOl's 3250 h.p. The method of construction is also slightly different in respect of the joining of the girders, and auralumen is used largely in the place of the ElOl's steel. The EIOO will use petrol, and therefore will not be available for flying in the Tropics as will the ElOl using heavy oil. )
