CHBISTCHURCH, This Day. It is practically settled, according to Mr. Donnelly, chairman of the Cricket Council^ that an English side, unquestionably the best ever to come to the Dominion, will visit-New Zealand 1 next season. The team will probably arrive in December. K. Duleepsinjhi and F. E.Woolley have" already accepted invitations, and the balance of the team of fourteen players will,include some of the best amateur and professional cricketers. ' '• . -

A. E. Gilligan is mentioned.as the probable captain. Eight professionals will be included. Worthington Townserid (Derbyshire), Ashdowne (Kent), SheppaTd (Surrey), and P. Holmes (Yorkshire) are players to whojn invitations will be Of the amateurs, E. Wyatf (Warwickshire); E. W. Dawson (captain of Leicestershire), G. B. Legge (captain of Kent), and M. J.
