FATALITY IN BULLER GORGE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPOBT, 11th June.' An accident, whereby three people .were killed, occurred through a landslide at Blaekwater, Buller Gorge, tonight. , • The victims were:— ■ j Mrs.. Parker. , Mrs. Parker's, infant daughter. J Mrs. Southon (Mrs. Parker's j mother). . j

It appears that Mr. Parker, a carrier, was coming down.from Inangahua junction to Tiroroa; in his motor-lorry with his wife and two children and Mrs. Southern. To allow one. of Gibbs's cars from. Nelson, to ,pass through, Parker pulled, off to_ the side of the road. Just then a big slip came away with a tree on it, and the tree caught the car, killing Mrs. Southon, Mrs. Parker, and the infant daughter. Mr. Parker got clear with some injuries. ■Mr. Quihn, on the car that had passed, hearing the crash, went back, and with other assistance from the railway construction camps, rescued one'child in a badly battered state and recovered the bodies of the three victims. These were- subsequently brought on to Westport, and the rescued child taken to the hospital. .

Mr. Parker is in the medical hut at Tirdroa suffering badly from shock.
