SHOT IN THE NECK
VICTIM AWARDED DAMAGES

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. John Armstrong, of Durham street,' a, labourer; claimed £198 16s as damages from Frederick Richardson, market gardener, of Green's road, Papanui, in the s Court yesterday.. Armstrong was shot in the. neck by Richardson at Papanui on Bth March. Richardson was convicted m the Supreme Court of assault so as to cause actual bodily harm, and was admitted to probation for two years.
The statement of claim set out that Kichardson had assaulted Armstrong by discharging a firearm at the.'. plaintiff in "V • A manner a« to cause injury to the planitifls. neck and back, and spoiling his clothes. In consequence of this the claim stated that the plaintiff was four days confined to hospital, was for seven weeks unable to work, and had incurred expenses for medical ana surgical attenfiim 6 P] amtiff therefore claimed ±150 general damages, and special damages, including wages and expenses, £48
