DEATH FROM BURNS
TABLEa\';ppRTEE/s FATE An inquest, was held to-day .'concerning the death of Archibald James Amundsen, aged ;.26, years, a railway tablet sporter, who died-, from injuries received as a result of his hut catching 'fire at' Pukerua Bay.iiithe early hours of Friday; morning,last. Evidence was .given by Thomas Garty, a tablet porter, stationed; at Piikerua Bay; 'that"shortly after midnight on Thursday =he.saw .Amundsen's hut. smoking.- ' With .the, assistance' of the driver and the fireman of; a goods train, he .carried Amundsen from the hut to the train, on'which the deceased was taken to Porirua,'where' a doctor, was obtained. Railwaymen's huts', were supplied with oil lamps. He knew that the deceased used candles and read and smoked in bed. The Coroner r(Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M.) said that there was no direct evidonce as to how the hut caught fire, but he could assume that it was accidental. He returned a verdict accordingly. ' C.
