INCREASED PAY CLAIMED - AUSTRALASIAN VESSELS. "{United Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE,'I9th March. A case has commenced in which the Merchant Service Guild of. Australasia is claiming increased pay and better conditions for its members on deep-sea, bay, harbour, and river craft. The! clairiis. for masters range from £45 7s lOd. a mouth for passenger vessels of 125 tons and under to £134 17s 6d a month for passenger vessels over 10,000 tons. The'guild is also, claiming increased salaries for'all members from tho sixth officer and the fifth engineer to captain and chief engineer, in addition to eight hours per day and provision for overtime.
